QUESTION OWNERSHIP
Examine how ownership of knowledge is legally and economically constructed.
ABOUT IMPERIUM CAPITALIS
Where knowledge becomes territory, ownership becomes the rule
In an age where patents guard medicines, algorithms hold data hostage, and corporations claim dominion over ideas themselves, knowledge has become the last great empire ruled not by kings, but by capital.
Imperium Capitalis is MaFLaC's national seminar confronting this new order: an interdisciplinary reckoning with Intellectual Property as the modern architecture of corporate power.
The seminar critically examines the relationship between intellectual property, corporate concentration, global trade, technology, public interest and unequal control over knowledge.
Its central question is deliberately open and interdisciplinary: to what extent do contemporary IP regimes operate as instruments of corporate power?
OBJECTIVES
Examine how ownership of knowledge is legally and economically constructed.
Study links between IP, corporate concentration and global markets.
Create dialogue among legal, economic, technological and management perspectives.
Explore public interest, commons, access and equitable knowledge governance.
